CURATOR

Welcome to Shenzhen Action : British Chinese Action Art Encounters, which will introduce some excellent British and Chinese action artists to Shenzhen. We believe that this first encounter, where British and Chinese artists will present their work and ideas on a humble and human scale to students as well as an art interested audience in Shenzhen, will develop into a new event with many possibilities to develop a dialogue.

Shenzhen Action begins on December 3, with lectures and a discussion between two British artists, John Court and Brian Connolly, and the students at the renowned Shenzhen Middle School, one of the most advanced in China.

The following day on December 4, this double showcase, will present live performances outdoors at Ya Ku in Shenzhen Overseas Chinese Town. This event will feature, besides John Court and Brian Connolly, the two female Chinese artists Yingmei Duan and Ge Ya. The live performances will be followed by a discussion between the British and Chinese artists moderated by the curator of Shenzhen Action, Jonas Stampe.

Shenzhen Action : British Chinese Action Art Encounters is organised by the British Consulate General in Guangzhou Cultural and Education Section and GLSA,  in partnership with Shenzhen Middle School and Ya Ku.
